Based on one of the most controversial pieces of literature that was banned for one hundred years, "Spring Awakening" is the tale of teenagers on the road of self-discovery. Based on the book by Frank Wedekind, this no-holds-barred musical takes place in Germany 1891, and explores the confusion and desperation that ensue when the onrushing tide of hormones meets the ignorance of children raised by parents too embarrassed or prudish to discuss what those new urges signify. Tony Award winner for Best Rock Musical with alluringly melancholy music by pop singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik and lyrics by Steven Sater. Explicit language and subject matter. Recommended for mature audience.

Performance dates are Mar. 1-2 & 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. and  Mar. 3 & 10 at 2:00 p.m. Performances take place in the Toland Theatre, Center for the Arts. Tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. Box office hours are Monday through Friday 1-4:30 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and one hour prior to each performance. Reservations can be made in person at the box office or by phone with MasterCard or Visa by calling 608-785-8522 during box office hours. Tickets are $16 for adults; $14 for senior citizens/non UW-L students, and $5 for UW-L students with an ID. Assigned seating.
