The need for energy as a supporting pillar of industry and civilization for that matter is well understood. The reality of the fact that our presently utilized sources of energy are not inexhaustible is becoming common knowledge as well. We cannot continue with our present use of energy forever and the expectation is that science will solve the problem.

There are many possible approaches, spanning various areas of knowledge.  Electrochemistry is just one of them. The presentation will focus on its possible contribution to better utilization of energy resources. Two paths will be described. One is generation of energy using electrochemical approaches and the other is use of electrochemical methods to store energy generated by other, unconventional methods.
