Content for this course is based upon the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS) which specify developmental expectations for children from birth through entrance to first grade. This course will focus primarily on one area of development around WMELS: Section IV-Approaches to Learning. Subtopics will include how young children learn as well as what they learn in the following areas: Curiosity, Engagement & Persistence; Creativity & Imagination. A special emphasis will also be placed on exploring the temperament of young children; how to identify temperament traits and differentiate instruction based on the strengths and needs of individual students.
