Purpose is to recruit and retain diverse and underrepresented high school and college students interested in teaching careers.
 
Objectives:
-Increased understanding of diversity in the classroom
-Increased understanding of current issues relevant to the teaching profession
-Increased interest in continuing to pursue a teaching career
 
Conference Addresses:
-Critical shortage of diverse teachers
-Critical shortage of teachers who teach in underrepresented majors, such as STEM education, English as a Second Language and special education
-Low retention and graduation rates for undergraduate students in teacher education programs
 
Who Should Attend:
-Undergraduate students interested in teaching careers
-High school students interested in teaching careers
 
The conference will address the specific academic career development needs while inspiring high school and college students to pursue the teaching field.
